If you are looking for quick dinner ideas, cozy food ideas, or an easy recipe that feels hearty and homemade, this baked tuna casserole is a delicious go to.

Ingredients

Scale

12 oz egg noodles

2 cans tuna, drained

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 cup milk

1 1/2 cups frozen peas

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp butter

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp chopped parsley

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles until just al dente. Drain and set aside.

3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 to 4 minutes.

4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

5. Add the cream of mushroom soup and milk, stirring until smooth.

6. Season the sauce with salt and black pepper.

7. Fold in the drained tuna and frozen peas, stirring gently to combine.

8. Add the cooked egg noodles and mix until everything is evenly coated.

9. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.

10. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top.

11. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted.

12. Garnish with chopped parsley, let rest for 5 minutes, and serve warm.

Notes

Use albacore tuna for a firmer texture or chunk light tuna for a softer, more classic casserole feel.

Do not overcook the noodles before baking or the casserole can turn too soft.

For an extra golden top, broil for 1 to 2 minutes at the end while watching closely.
