Description

These Raspberry Heart Danishes are a quick breakfast, easy dessert, and beautiful brunch treat all in one. Made with flaky puff pastry, sweet raspberry jam, and a creamy cheesecake filling, they are perfect for breakfast ideas, dessert ideas, holiday baking, and easy recipe moments when you want impressive food ideas without a lot of work.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/3 cup raspberry jam or raspberry preserves

1 egg, beaten

1 tbsp water

1 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

3. Lightly unfold the puff pastry and roll it just enough to smooth the seams.

4. Cut the pastry into heart shapes using a cookie cutter or a template and knife.

5. On half of the hearts, lightly score a smaller heart inside the edge, being careful not to cut all the way through.

6. Spread about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture inside each scored heart.

7. Top the cream cheese with about 1 teaspoon of raspberry jam.

8. Whisk the egg with the water and brush the outer edges of the pastry with the egg wash.

9. Place the danishes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 14 to 18 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.

10. Let them cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Keep the puff pastry cold for the best rise and flakiest layers.

Do not overfill the centers or the jam may bubble over while baking.

For the prettiest finish, dust with powdered sugar only after the danishes have cooled slightly.
