Ingredients
8 slices Swiss cheese
8 slices deli ham
12 ounces cooked roast pork, sliced or shredded
8 dill pickle slices
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
4 sandwich rolls or 1 loaf Cuban bread, cut into 4 portions
2 tablespoons softened butter
Instructions
1. Slice the bread or sandwich rolls open and spread yellow mustard on the inside of each piece.
2. Layer Swiss cheese, roast pork, ham, and dill pickle slices evenly onto the bread.
3. Close the sandwiches and spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich.
4. Heat a sandwich press, panini maker, or skillet over medium heat.
5. Press the sandwiches for 4 to 6 minutes until the bread is golden and crisp and the cheese is melted.
6. If using a skillet, flip once and press with a heavy pan so both sides toast evenly.
7. Let the sandwiches rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
Use sturdy bread so the sandwich holds together well during pressing.
Do not skip the pickles because they balance the richness of the meat and cheese.
Reheat leftovers in a skillet or oven for the best crisp texture.
