Description
Church Lady Butter Toffee Pretzels are a sweet and salty easy recipe that delivers buttery crunch in every bite. This quick snack is perfect for holiday parties, dessert tables, food ideas, easy entertaining, and homemade gift giving, with crisp pretzels coated in rich brown sugar toffee and finished with coarse salt for one of the best easy dessert snack ideas to keep on hand.
Ingredients
4 cups mini pretzels
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 250°F and line a large baking sheet or roasting pan with parchment paper. Spread the mini pretzels in an even layer.
2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter completely.
3. Stir in the brown sugar and cook until the mixture is smooth and bubbling, about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often.
4. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will foam slightly.
5. Immediately pour the toffee mixture over the pretzels and toss well until evenly coated.
6. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes so the coating bakes evenly.
7. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with coarse sea salt, and let cool completely.
8. Break apart clusters and store in an airtight container.
Notes
Use parchment paper so the cooled toffee pretzels release easily.
Stir during baking to keep the coating even and prevent large hard clumps.
Let the pretzels cool fully before storing so they stay crisp.
