Description

Creamy, cool, and irresistibly rich, this Chocolate Peppermint Mousse is an easy recipe that feels both elegant and festive. With silky chocolate, refreshing peppermint, and a fluffy texture, it is perfect for holiday dessert tables, dinner ideas that need a sweet finish, and make-ahead food ideas when you want a simple but impressive treat.

Ingredients

Scale

6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon peppermint extract

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whipped cream, for topping

1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies

2 tablespoons chocolate shavings

Fresh mint leaves, for garnish

Instructions

1. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate in the microwave in short intervals or over a double boiler until smooth. Let it cool slightly.

2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.

3. Mix in the peppermint extract and vanilla extract until fully combined.

4. Pour in the melted chocolate and beat until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.

5. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.

6. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture in batches until light and airy.

7. Spoon or pipe the mousse into 6 dessert glasses or serving cups.

8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

9. Top with whipped cream, crushed peppermint candies, chocolate shavings, and fresh mint leaves before serving.

Notes

Let the melted chocolate cool slightly before mixing so it stays smooth and does not clump.

Fold the whipped cream in gently to keep the mousse light and fluffy.

Add the peppermint extract a little at a time if you want to control the mint flavor more carefully.
