Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 egg yolk, beaten (for brushing)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté diced onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
2. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 2–3 minutes, then let cool slightly.
4. Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
5. Sprinkle half of the cheese down the center. Top with cooled beef mixture. Add remaining cheese on top.
6. Fold pastry over filling, forming a log. Pinch ends and place seam-side down. Score slits across the top.
7. Brush with egg yolk.
8. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
9. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
Notes
Be sure to let the beef mixture cool before assembling to avoid a soggy crust.
Use all-butter puff pastry for extra flakiness.
