Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 small yellow onion, diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 bag (32 ounces) frozen tater tots
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess grease.
3. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, cream of mushroom soup, and sour cream. Mix well to combine.
4. Spread the beef mixture evenly into a lightly greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
5. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
6. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
7. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes or until tater tots are golden and crispy.
8. In the last 5 minutes of baking, top with remaining cheddar cheese and return to oven until melted.
9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a handful of frozen mixed veggies to the beef layer.
Want it spicier? Use Pepper Jack cheese or mix in diced jalapeños.
You can prep this the night before—just cover and refrigerate until ready to bake.
