Description

These soft and golden sweet rolls are swirled with luscious berry jam and optional fresh fruit, creating a delightful twist on a classic treat. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, they offer a balance of pillowy dough and fruity brightness, finished with a dusting of powdered sugar or a silky glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1 cup warm milk (110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup berry jam or preserves

1/2 cup fresh berries (optional)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Combine warm milk and sugar in a bowl. Stir in yeast and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make the Dough: Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter. Stir to form a dough and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  3. First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll and Fill: Roll out dough to a 12×16 inch rectangle. Spread jam evenly and sprinkle fresh berries if using. Roll up tightly into a log.
  5. Slice and Arrange: Cut into 12 equal rolls. Place in a greased 9×13 inch dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
  7. Finish: Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze if desired.
