Ingredients
Scale
- 4 whole turkey wings (split at joints)
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt (like Lawry’s)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pat turkey wings dry and season with seasoned salt, paprika, pepper, and olive oil.
- In a large skillet, sear the wings over medium heat until browned, about 3–4 minutes per side. Transfer to a baking dish. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions until soft and golden. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Sprinkle in flour and stir constantly to create a roux.
- Slowly whisk in chicken broth to make a smooth gravy. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme.
- Simmer until thickened. Pour the gravy over the turkey wings in the baking dish.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the wings are tender.
- Optional: Uncover and broil for 3–5 minutes to caramelize the top. Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or dressing.
Notes
For ultra-rich gravy, use a mix of chicken broth and turkey drippings if available.
Be sure to cover tightly with foil during baking to trap in moisture.
To avoid lumpy gravy, whisk the broth in gradually and stir constantly.
