Description
Soft, buttery sugar cookies topped with peppermint kisses and optional crushed candy canes. These Peppermint Kiss Cookies are festive, easy to bake, and make the perfect holiday treat for parties, gift boxes, or Santa’s cookie plate.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
24 peppermint kisses, unwrapped
¼ cup crushed candy canes (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until fully incorporated.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
6. Cover and chill the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes.
7. Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on the baking sheet 2 inches apart.
8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are just set.
9. Immediately press a peppermint kiss into the center of each cookie.
10. Cool completely before serving. Optionally, sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
Notes
Chill the dough to prevent excessive spreading during baking.
Insert the peppermint kiss immediately after baking so it melts slightly and sets perfectly.
For an extra festive touch, use peppermint extract in place of or in addition to vanilla.
