Description

One-Pan Creamy Sweet & Smoky BBQ Sausage Pasta is the ultimate comfort meal — smoky, creamy, cheesy, and packed with savory sausage in every bite. This dish combines tender penne pasta with rich BBQ flavor and a velvety sauce, all made in a single skillet. It’s quick enough for busy weeknights but delicious enough to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Plus, cleanup is a breeze.

Ingredients

Scale

12 oz (340g) penne pasta

1 lb (450g) smoked or sweet sausage, sliced

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1½ cups heavy cream

½ cup BBQ sauce (sweet & smoky preferred)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon black pepper

Salt to taste

1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup grated mozzarella (optional)

2 cups chicken broth or water

Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage slices and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add chopped onion. Sauté 2–3 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  3. Pour in broth, cream, BBQ sauce, paprika, pepper, and salt. Stir well. Add penne pasta and ensure it’s submerged.
  4. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce has thickened.
  5. Return sausage to the pan. Add cheeses and stir until melted and creamy.
  6. Let rest for 2 minutes. Garnish with parsley or chives and serve hot.
