Description
This Hot Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso is a cozy, café-style drink you can make at home. Rich espresso meets a warm brown sugar syrup and a dash of cinnamon, all shaken to create a smooth, frothy blend topped with foamed milk. It’s the perfect warm drink for chilly mornings or a sweet midday pick-me-up.
Ingredients
2 shots espresso or 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 pinch cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk or non-dairy milk
1/2 cup ice
Instructions
1. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, water, and cinnamon. Simmer until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
2. Brew 2 shots of espresso or 1/4 cup of very strong coffee.
3. In a shaker or sealed jar, combine hot espresso and brown sugar syrup. Add ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds.
4. Froth milk using a frother or by heating and shaking it in a jar.
5. Strain espresso mixture into a warm mug. Top with frothed milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Notes
Shake with ice even for hot drinks—this creates the signature silky texture without cooling it down too much.
Use oat milk for an extra creamy and subtly sweet flavor that complements the brown sugar perfectly.
Make extra brown sugar syrup and store in the fridge for up to a week to speed things up later.
