Description

This Hostess Sheet Cake is everything you love about the classic cupcake—layered with ultra-moist chocolate cake, fluffy marshmallow cream filling, and a silky ganache topping—in one easy, party-ready sheet cake. A nostalgic dessert with impressive flavor and texture, perfect for birthdays, potlucks, or sweet cravings.


Ingredients

1 box chocolate cake mix (or homemade 9x13 chocolate cake)

1 cup unsalted butter, softened (divided)

2 cups powdered sugar

1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow creme

1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

3 tablespoons heavy cream (for filling)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup heavy cream (for ganache)

Optional: white sprinkles for topping


Instructions

1. Prepare a 9×13 chocolate cake according to package or recipe instructions. Let it cool completely.

2. In a large bowl, beat ½ cup softened butter, powdered sugar, marshmallow creme, vanilla extract, and 3 tablespoons of heavy cream until light and fluffy (3–4 minutes).

3. Slice the cake horizontally. Spread the cream filling evenly over the bottom layer and place the top back on.

4. In a bowl, add 1 cup chocolate chips. Heat ½ cup heavy cream until simmering, then pour over chips. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.

5. Pour the ganache over the cake and spread evenly. Let set at room temp or refrigerate.

6. Decorate with white sprinkles or swirl designs if desired. Slice and serve!


Notes

Make sure the cake is completely cooled before slicing to avoid melting the filling.

Chill the cake before slicing for cleaner, bakery-style cuts.

If using homemade cake, add a tablespoon of espresso powder to deepen the chocolate flavor.
