With a soft, fluffy interior and a crunchy sugar coating, they are both beautiful and delicious. Serve them fresh with a cup of coffee or as a fun dessert for loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Frying:

4 cups vegetable oil (for deep frying)

For the Sugar Coating:

1 cup granulated sugar

Pink and red sugar crystals (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In another bowl, combine warm milk, butter, egg, and vanilla. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mixing until a sticky dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.
  2. Shape the Donuts: Punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/2-inch thickness. Use a heart-shaped cutter to cut out donuts. Place them on a parchment-lined tray, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  3. Fry the Donuts: Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches, cooking for about 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Coat with Sugar: While warm, roll the donuts in granulated sugar and sprinkle with pink and red sugar crystals. Let them cool slightly before serving.
