Ingredients
8 slices white bread
6 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 tablespoons strawberry preserves
2 tablespoons butter, for frying
Optional: fresh strawberries for garnish
Optional: additional powdered sugar for topping
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
2. Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over four slices of bread.
3. Add a tablespoon of strawberry preserves on top of the cream cheese.
4. Top with remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
5. Lightly butter the outside of each sandwich.
6. Heat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat.
7. Fry sandwiches until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
8. Remove from skillet and let cool slightly.
9. Slice diagonally and dust with powdered sugar.
10. Serve warm with optional fresh strawberries.
Notes
For best results, use thick-cut white bread or brioche to avoid sogginess.
Do not overfill the sandwich with preserves—it will leak while frying.
Sprinkle sugar on the buttered bread before frying for caramelized edges.
