These Easy Christmas Sausage Rolls are buttery, flaky, and packed with savory sausage goodness. Perfect as a holiday appetizer or party snack, they’re simple to make ahead and freezer-friendly, making them the ultimate festive crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
1 pound sausage meat (pork or herb-blend)
1 small onion, finely grated
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, mix sausage meat, onion, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and herbs if using.
3. Unroll puff pastry and cut each sheet into 2 long rectangles.
4. Shape sausage mix into logs and lay along the center of each pastry piece.
5. Fold pastry over and seal edge with beaten egg; press with a fork.
6. Slice into 2-inch pieces and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
7. Brush tops with beaten egg and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
8. Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
Make sure the sausage filling is evenly distributed to prevent soggy centers.
Always bake from chilled or frozen to maintain pastry crispness.
For a golden crust, don’t skip the egg wash on top!
