Description
This Easy Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir Fry is your weeknight dinner hero. Made in under 30 minutes, it combines juicy chicken, crisp Napa cabbage, and bell peppers in a savory, slightly spicy stir fry sauce. It’s vibrant, healthy, and perfect over rice or noodles.
Ingredients
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast or thighs
4 cups sliced Napa cabbage
1 bell pepper, sliced (red or yellow)
1 small onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon neutral oil (for cooking)
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Slice chicken into strips and toss with cornstarch, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Let it marinate while you prepare other ingredients.
2. Slice Napa cabbage, bell pepper, and onion. Mince garlic and ginger.
3. Heat oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 4–5 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
4. Add a bit more oil if needed. Sauté onion, garlic, and ginger for 1 minute.
5. Add cabbage and bell pepper. Stir fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender.
6. Return chicken to the skillet. Add oyster sauce and a splash of water if needed. Stir to combine.
7. Cook for another 2 minutes, letting flavors meld.
8. Remove from heat. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use a hot skillet or wok to get a good sear on the chicken without overcooking.
Don’t overcrowd the pan—stir fry in batches if needed.
Napa cabbage cooks faster than regular cabbage, so adjust cooking time if substituting.
