1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for filling)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for filling)
3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.
3. In another bowl, mix oats, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter using fingers or pastry cutter until crumbly.
4. Spread apple mixture evenly in the baking dish.
5. Sprinkle crumble topping over apples.
6. Bake for 40–45 minutes until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Use a mix of tart and sweet apples like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp for better flavor.
Keep butter cold for the crisp topping to turn out crunchy.
Let it rest 10 minutes before serving to help the juices set.
