The Crispy Fried Cod Sandwich is a crunchy, golden delight stacked on a soft brioche bun with tangy tartar sauce, fresh lettuce, and juicy tomatoes. It’s the perfect fish sandwich for family dinners, cookouts, or whenever you crave comfort food with a seafood twist.
Ingredients
4 cod fillets (about 4–6 oz each)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
2 eggs
½ cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
4 brioche buns
½ cup tartar sauce
4 lettuce leaves
4 tomato slices
½ cup pickles
½ small red onion, thinly sliced
Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
1. In a shallow bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
2. In another bowl, whisk eggs with buttermilk.
3. Pat cod fillets dry. Dip each into flour mix, then egg mix, then back into flour mix.
4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry fillets 3–4 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
5. Toast brioche buns. Spread tartar sauce, layer lettuce, tomato, crispy cod, pickles, and onion. Top with bun.
6. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
For an extra crispy crust, double-dip the cod in flour and egg.
Keep fried fish warm in a 200°F oven while finishing the batch.
Swap tartar sauce for spicy mayo for a fun flavor twist.
