Description

A smooth, shiny chocolate ganache is one of the most versatile treats you can make. Use it as a glaze, a dip, a filling, or even whip it into frosting. This recipe gives you the perfect base with room to customize for any dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

8 oz (225 g) high-quality dark or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream

1 tbsp unsalted butter (optional, for added shine)

1 tsp vanilla extract or other flavoring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the chocolate and place it in a heatproof bowl.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Gently stir until completely smooth and glossy.
  5. Stir in butter and flavorings if using. Use warm, cooled, or whipped depending on your dessert.
