Description
Butter Swim Biscuits are irresistibly golden, fluffy, and buttery Southern-style biscuits baked in a pool of melted butter. With no rolling or cutting required, these easy, one-bowl biscuits deliver a crispy edge and tender center perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dinner.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 ¾ cups buttermilk
½ cup salted butter (1 stick), melted
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
2. Place an 8×8-inch baking dish in the oven with ½ cup (1 stick) of salted butter to melt while it preheats.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
4. Pour in the buttermilk and mix until a sticky dough forms.
5. Carefully remove the dish from the oven and pour the dough into the melted butter.
6. Use a spatula to spread the dough evenly—some butter will float to the top.
7. Score the dough into 9 squares using a knife.
8. Bake for 22–25 minutes or until golden brown on top and crispy on the edges.
9. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, stir in shredded cheddar or chopped herbs like rosemary or chives.
Make sure the butter is hot when the dough is added—it creates the signature crust.
Don’t overmix the dough; gentle mixing ensures tender biscuits.
