Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup brown sugar, packed
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups pecans, halved or coarsely chopped
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine butter, flour, and granulated sugar. Mix until crumbly.
3. Press the crust mixture evenly into the pan and bake for 18–20 minutes until lightly golden.
4. In another bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt.
5. Stir pecans into the filling mixture.
6. Pour the filling evenly over the warm crust and spread if needed.
7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the center is set and the edges are golden.
8. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.
Notes
For extra depth of flavor, toast the pecans lightly before adding them to the filling.
Let bars cool completely before slicing to ensure clean edges and no crumbling.
For a twist, add 1 tablespoon of bourbon or maple syrup to the filling for richer flavor.
