Description

Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, these Authentic German Frikadellen are a classic dish made from a blend of ground beef and pork, onions, bread, and spices. Pan-fried to golden perfection, they’re ideal for a comforting family meal or picnic-style serving.

Ingredients

Scale

250g ground beef

250g ground pork

2 slices stale bread (or 1/2 cup breadcrumbs)

1/2 cup milk or water (for soaking bread)

1 egg

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

1 tbsp mustard

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Oil or butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak bread in water or milk for a few minutes. Squeeze out excess liquid and crumble into a bowl.
  2. Sauté chopped onion in a little oil until translucent; let cool.
  3. Add beef, pork, soaked bread, cooled onion, egg, parsley, mustard, salt, pepper, and nutmeg to the bowl. Mix gently until just combined.
  4. Shape into 6–8 oval patties with damp hands.
  5. Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Fry patties for 5–6 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through.
  7. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to rest. Serve warm or room temperature.
